About the Show
Seven dancers have been invited into the home of a family living in Galway’s West End. Over several months they have shared life experiences, exchanged knowledge, settled in together. You are warmly invited to join Speckled Egg Dance Company for an intimate, live dance performance that explores what it means to be welcomed into someone else’s home. Moving from room to room, and all of the spaces in-between, the dancers make themselves at home. Five dances in five rooms, each choreographed as a collaboration between the Speckled Egg dancers and the host family.
- Artistic Director: Rachel Parry
- Soundscape/composer: Matthew Berrill, in collaboration with the performers
- Producer: Maeve Mulrennan
- Costume: Cherie White
- Production photographer: Elodie Rein
About the Company
Established in 2013, Speckled Egg Dance Company is currently based at the O’Donoghue Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance, NUI Galway. The company members work with Rachel Parry, artistic director, to make dance works that reflect their individual interests as dance artists. The dancers often perform their work outdoors and at site-specific locations. Their work has developed through several phases, beginning with autobiographical solos, and more recently in response to locations that hold personal meaning to the dancers. This latest show has grown out of the strong interest shown by several of the company members in choreographing work in response to architecture, the built environment and design.
Speckled Egg is grateful for support from Blue Teapot Theatre Company, Galway City Council and the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance, NUI Galway.
